There is a particular kind of loneliness that comes with hardship. It settles in quietly: after the eviction notice, after the third night in a car, after a single parent counts what’s left in the account and realizes it won’t stretch to the end of the month. It’s the teenager who stopped telling anyone where they sleep at night because they’re tired of the looks. It’s the family that packed what they could carry and left everything else behind.
When you’re living through that kind of strife, the struggle itself is only part of the weight. The heavier part is the silence around it. Days pass and no one calls. Doors close. Applications go unanswered. Little by little, a thought takes root and starts to feel like the truth: Nobody cares.
We named this foundation Eli Cares as a direct answer to that thought.
Because it isn’t true. It has never been true. There are neighbors, business owners, churches, teachers, veterans, parents, and everyday people right here in our community who care deeply. They want to help, and they’re often just waiting to be shown where and how. Eli Cares exists to close that gap, to connect the people who are hurting with the people who are ready to show up.
